Wild Rumpus Books is thrilled to host Ty Chapman in conversation with renowned author John Coy, to celebrate the release of Chapman's debut picture book, SARAH RISING.
Sarah starts her day like any other day: she eats her toast and feeds her bugs. But today isn't a day like any other day. Inspired by the protests that happened during the Minneapolis Uprising after the police killing of George Floyd, SARAH RISING provides a child's-eye view of a protest and offers an opportunity for children to talk about why people take to the streets to protest racial injustice. Ty Chapman will be joined in conversation by John Coy to discuss SARAH RISING and writing for young people. There will be time for audience questions followed by a signing line.
This event is free and open to the public. Seating will be available on a first-come first-served basis. The event will take place outdoors on the asphalt patio behind Wild Rumpus Books. In the event of rain, this event will be postponed. Masks will be required.
Following the event, Ty Chapman will be available to sign and personalize copies of his book. If you would prefer not to stay for the signing, you may pre-order copies that will be signed just prior to the event. Orders must be placed by noon on Tuesday, June 7th to guarantee pre-signing. Please note in your order that you would like the book signed and the names of those you would like it signed to (or simply write "signature only").

I pay attention.
I have a long memory.
You might find it hard to believe,
but I have moved through time.
