I got about four pages into this picture book before thinking to myself “Ope, this is going to make me cry”, and Reader, it did! This book perfectly encapsulates the tender nostalgia we feel for the special places in our lives- in this case, that place is a swing set overlooking the sea, visited by families, friends, children, couples, and wildlife. As weather and years age and rust the old swings, the people whose lives it has touched change too. This is a speculative and breathlessly beautiful book about community, childhood, growing up, and things that will change but never be forgotten.

In this vivid new picture book, Sudyka demonstrates how one little piece of land has lived over a thousand lives. Sudkyka incorporates her vibrant and bold watercolor style to showcase just how beautiful our land is. A sweet reminder that even when the change seems beyond repair, if we care for our land together then we can help our planet begin anew.
