Monday, April 29 - Sunday, May 5
As part of the longest-running national celebration of books for young people and the joy of reading, over 1,000 schools, libraries, and bookstores will celebrate Children’s Book Week from April 29 to May 5 from coast to coast in all 50 states.
This May marks the 100th anniversary of Children’s Book Week; the theme for this year’s celebration is Read Now • Read Forever. Kids and teens at Book Week events will receive a free 2019 Children’s Book Week activity poster designed by Yuyi Morales (while supplies last).
We are proud to be hosting the following event(s) in celebration of Children’s Book Week:
- Monday, April 29, 10:30-11AM: Tail Time: a story time for the young
- Thursday, May 2, 6-6:30PM: Pajama Story Time!
- Saturday, May 4, 2PM: Andri Snær Magnason, author of The Casket of Time
Kids of all ages will also have access online at Every Child a Reader to original bookmarks created by seven acclaimed illustrators, individual panels of a 12-artist collaborative 100th anniversary poster revealed throughout the year, and much more.
Voting for the 12th Annual Children’s & Teen Choice Book Awards, the only national book award voted on solely by kids & teens began online on March 1 and runs through June 2.
Children’s Book Week is a cornerstone program of Every Child a Reader, a 501(c)(3) literacy charity dedicated to inspiring a lifelong love of reading in children and teens across America. Other national programs include the Children’s and Teen Choice Book Awards, the National Ambassador for Young People’s Literature, in partnership with the Library of Congress, and Get Caught Reading.
