Heather is an artist, storyteller, and all-around sillyperson. Her hobbies include long trips to the grocery store for entertainment, trying out local bakeries, and just generally looking around. Her slightly more important-sounding hobbies include connecting with others about the concept of memory and its link to our senses, collecting books (especially graphic novels & picture books!) that celebrate delighting in the world around us, and threading observation, humor, and wondering into her everyday practices.
Heather's favorite books include, but certainly aren't limited to:
- Oh No, George! by Chris Haughton
- Still Stuck by Shinsuke Yoshitake
- Chirri & Chirra by Kaya Doi
- A First Time for Everything by Dan Santat
- Be Prepared by Vera Brosgol
- Another Kind by Trevor Bream, Cait May

“Reading rocker Smith’s account of her relationship with photographer Robert Mapplethorpe, it’s hard not to believe in fate. How else to explain the chance encounter that threw them together, allowing both to blossom? Quirky and spellbinding.” -- People
