This is a magical, far-flung story about a girl trying to understand her family's history with the help of a mysteriously powerful pashmina--can traveling to a land beyond her wildest dreams help Pri understand her mother's past and present, or are the family she searches for and this unknown land more than they appear?
Friendship! Adventure! Mysterious goings on in the woods! I seriously can't say how much I love the Lumberjanes series. Super fun, great representation, the art style is an absolute blast... And if you run through all the comic books like I did, you can get into their chapter books too!
Navigating friendship dynamics in middle school can be absolutely overwhelming--that's no secret. But rarely do we get a story that equally explores being the person whose friendship circle expands easily AND the one who wants everything to stay like the good old days. If you got into Brogslov because of Be Prepared you won't want to miss this one.
This book has always reminded me of one of Brogsol's books for older readers, Anya's Ghost. It's about a 13-year-old girl who's struggling to run her family's laundromat and being unknowingly thwarted by a ghost named Wendell. A little bit spooky, a little bit sweet, and ultimately a testament to the unparalleled strength of young women.
